Learn about joining the Roseboro Fire Department
The Roseboro Fire Department is currently accepting applications for volunteer membership (we do actually pay, see below!). The following are some things to know when thinking about applying:
-Must be 18 years old
-Must have a valid NCDL
-No felony convictions
-Be able to pass a drug test
There is no prior training or experience required, you will work and train with us once you join. These are the steps necessary to become a member:
-Fill out a Town of Roseboro application (you will be a town employee)
-Set up a time to meet with the Fire Chief
-Obtain copy of criminal history and drug test, you will be reimbursed for the cost
-Once the Fire Chief has those items in hand and you have been approved for membership, you will receive a phone call from the Fire Chief
Once you are on the department, you will serve a probationary status, this is time for you to decide if you think being a firefighter is the right fit for you. You also use this time to get to know everyone on the department and start to learn what firefighting is all about. If you decide that either you don't think it's for you, or you don't have the time necessary, then you may resign in good standing an can return anytime in the future.
There are benefits available to you the day you join, they are:
-Pay per call
-Pay per meeting
-$10,000 life insurance policy
-Pension Fund
-State and Federal death benefits for Line of Duty death up to $500,000
-Sampson County Firefighters Association death benefit of $1,500
-Multiple training opportunities at no cost to you
-Transportation provided to and from training locations
-Many more!
